bras 4 a Cause

Corporate Citizenship

Essential Bodywear is a proud donor to the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk and contributes a percentage of Sales in the month of October to this amazing cause in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Essential Bodywear is dedicated to make a difference in the hopes that someday we can eradicate this devastating disease.

Our charitable efforts stretch beyond our local community as we contribute to national organizations in need. In addition, as part of an effort organized by the Direct Selling Association (DSA), Essential Bodywear donated products to the "Today" show's 12th Annual Holiday Toy Drive by contributing time and product to Women In Need , a non-profit organization serving homeless and disadvantaged women and their children.

Women in Need, Inc.

WIN = EBW
Every woman has a story.
Women in Need, Inc. a non-profit organization founded in New York City in 1983, serves homeless and disadvantaged women and their children. WIN helps homeless families through a comprehensive program that includes transitional shelters, permanent supported housing apartments for special populations of mothers with children, internships and domestic violence prevention and substance abuse treatment clinics, just to name a few. WIN has seven shelters in Manhatten, the Bronx and Brooklyn.

Essential Bodywear had the opportunity to share our passion for serving women with a much needed basic (a BRA that is fit to your body and is comfortable) and the privilege to contribute what we could to a wonderful cause. We were able to serve the needs of these women in the Manhatten shelter and substance abuse clinic, the Brooklyn Shelter called Liberty which houses 203 families and the Bronx shelter Casa Rita for 16 families. Our only obstacle was the weather, which kept many women and their children in their homes and unable to make the trip out to see us at one of these locations. Many however braved the frigid temperatures to come and meet with us.

Essential Bodywear donated bras for the cause and didn't just stop there. We fulfilled our mission to personally fit and share our story with many gracious women who truly were touched by our intent. We went to New York City with 600 bras and a myriad of panties and fit every woman, fitting nearly 550 women with the stock we had with us. Every one looked tremendous after their fitting and was able to take at least one new bra home with them and a pair of panties too. They giggled, laughed and cheered each other on and were so gracious and kind with their words of gratitude. They looked and felt great in their new bras and the smiles were truly contagious as these women walked away taller, looking thinner and feeling a little better about themselves.

Whether it is an Essential Makeover, a Fitness Clinic, Bra Boutique or a personal appointment, do not forget to share your story. Why did you decide to start your own business? What got you excited to embark on something new and exciting and choose to become the Bra Lady?

Pay it forward and everyone WINs.
